Let me start off this post with a summary of how I feel: deployments suck. For those of you who don’t know by now, I am a military spouse and my husband is currently serving a tour in Iraq. We are three months into the deployment (wooohoo!!) and we have six months left. Although I have a great job, my blog and a solid group of friends to hang out with and help get me by, there is always that feeling of being lonely and not having your loved one by your side. And guess what? It really sucks. As a military spouse we are often too humbled by our situations, we only tell close family and friends about our feelings on how we deal with our loved ones constantly being away. I too am like that. I don’t often talk about the woes of being a military spouse, but I do talk about my situation, and what has become my life.
Some days it’s tough to do all the chores/errands, cook for myself, and feel like my life is singularly organized around my dog’s pooping schedule. But at the end of the day I stay strong. I may be lonely, I may miss my husband every second of the day, but I know when I stay strong he stays strong too – after all HE is the one away from his family, friends and entire life. Many people don’t understand the military lifestyle or what exactly it entails so I hope throughout my blogging career, moving forward, I can shed more light on this marginalized community of strong women and men. I want to make a Military Wive’s Problems, kind of like the 50 Fashion Blogger Problems post I made. I’m sure it will make everyone laugh and touch on subjects that the majority of civilians didn’t know existed.
I guess you can say I’m having a bit of a Pablo Picasso moment with this blue ensemble. While I’m feeling blue, I am trying to stay strong and look on the bright side. Like I mentioned before, I know the majority of my husband’s peace of mind comes from my happiness. Oh but don’t mind me, I’m just over here in North Carolina trying to hold my life together. Brace yourselves.
On to the outfit -> Does anyone else buy designer items only to put them on a pedestal and never wear them? I’ve had these Jimmy Choo Lottie sandals for about a year now – never worn. I tend to always do that with my designer clothes. It’s like they are too perfect to wear and be tainted by outdoors. The sole of these Choos felt like a baby’s bottom coming out of the box, I didn’t want to ruin them by walking on the grainy concrete! I can’t imagine the stress I will go through wearing my first pair of Louboutins on the sidewalk… I will probably cry a little inside knowing the perfect red sole is scuffing up – but to hell with it! Fashion and designer clothes were made to wear, not hang in our closets to admire. I thought my pretty little Choos paired perfectly with this lacey little number by Catherine Deane. This look is perfect for wedding season, spring cocktail parties or any other formal event. I love the teal color because it pairs so well with other blues, greens and whites. Styling this look was incredibly easy and I love the color combination I have going on here. I may be wearing and feeling blue, but I’m still smiling!
As always, thanks for reading! You can shop my look at the bottom of this post. Let me know in the comments below. Do you know a military spouse or have any family members in the military?

April 6, 2017Thank you for sharing this heartfelt post! It is a beautiful as you are. And, I know what you mean about treating designer goods with kid gloves. But never fear about your Louboutins. There are shoe places that will put a protective rubber sole on them in exactly the Louboutin shade of red. ? Then you don’t ever get the scuffing, and the bottoms of your shoes will always look red! ❤️

April 6, 2017Hang in there, lady. I know it is so hard to get through it! I lived with my sister while her husband was deployed and I saw how sad she could get. Just know it isn’t permanent!
