Making floral couture has been a hobby of mine for many years. When the spring equinox peaks I am overcome with inspiration from all the beautiful blooms here in North Carolina. From bradford pear trees to dogwoods to my personal favorite, crepe myrtles, there is an endless bounty of beauty when spring arrives. With my little basket and some garden shears, I go outside and collect every unique bloom or leaf I see. All of the spring colors and freshness in the air is so inspiring.
While I sit down to make my floral couture pieces, I love having a drink of LIFEWTR to help me get inspired. The colorful and expressive packaging refreshes my mind and the purified water and pH balanced with electrolytes keeps my body hydrated. I absolutely love that I can conveniently pick up my favorite LIFEWTR bottles at any 7-Eleven store. Seriously! One quick trip to your local 7-Eleven and you can score the tastiest and freshest water, and admire the beautiful packaging – inspiration on the outside, hydration on the inside.
To make floral couture you don’t need many things. All you need is to follow these easy steps:
- Get your materials together: You will need some live flowers (wild or store bought), scissors, white poster board, a pencil and some LIFEWTR to keep you inspired and hydrated.
- Sketch a mannequin that you will be making the floral couture for.
- Then, gently pull apart your flower petals and make each part of the flower into its own pile.
- Start arranging your materials as you wish. You can redesign your favorite runway looks in floral form, of you can create a piece that was completely imagined by you!
My favorite thing to make with floral couture is fairy-inspired outfits. With all of the different shapes and sizes of flower petals, the inspiration is endless. You can redesign your favorite Disney princess dresses or make up something completely on your own. Whatever gets you outside and your brain pumped up with creativity!
This project is so innovative and fun for all ages. I love that there are no boundaries in this fun, creative project – just make what you feel. I’m so happy I have a fun seasonal activity that makes me go outside to appreciate the beauty of nature, and allows me to be artistic. With a sip of LIFEWTR from 7-Eleven the inspiration is ever-flowing.
