Spring has sprung, and with the April showers brings a bloom of May flowers! I know that sounds super corny, but that saying always makes me so happy – and so does this yellow dress! The month of April was wet and muddy in the PNW. I swear I hadn’t seen the sun in 30 days, and up until last week I couldn’t see Mt. Hood in all her glory. Thankfully the skies have cleared up and the sun is out! I love the early signs of spring. I feel this time of year is underappreciated. It’s still a little ugly outside, but the buds are starting to sprout and to me that’s a beautiful thing. Little hints of green on a dead tree or bush are so exciting! You know in a few weeks, or days even, that those little sprouts will bloom into something beautiful.

I wore this gorgeous yellow dress on the occasion of the first spring blooms. The large bush with the gorgeous yellow flowers is called forsythia, and the pink, fluffy trees are cherry blossoms. I loveee how these photos turned out. This dress is so comfortable and sexy – what a combo! I love this pastel yellow shade, and I love that it also comes in a blush rose color. I paired my dress with a straw bag and my favorite nude Sam Edelman pumps. These shoes come in so many colors, and are a wardrobe staple of mine.
I was so inspired by this Forsythia bush that I wrote a poem about these photos. I haven’t wrote a poem in years, but wanted to put my feelings down in words. I’m not sure that it’s finished yet, but I wanted to share what I wrote anyways. I would like to add more to the poem eventually and come up with a different ending, but this is what you get for now! ?
Forsythia by Taylor Aube
I can only whisper your name
four syllables
and one breath,
Forsythia
Vibrant as the flower that beholds you
Eponymous
Delicate and intricate,
Forsythia
The roots grow down
Her mind grows up
Dualism of nature and woman
Forsythia, my love.
