Seeing Red: Oregon Poppy Fields & Fall Dresses

I’M STILL BIG RED! The Oregon poppy fields are such a delight, as well as reminiscing on the cult 2000’s film Bring It On. The intro of the movie sets the stage at a cheer leading summer camp, where we learn about spirit fingers and spirit sticks.

When the cheerleaders introduce themselves, there is someone named Big Red, the sassy af leader of the cheer squad. Now I couldn’t be more than opposite from Big Red, but the lyric still pops into my head every now and then. Here is the video if you want a trip down memory lane.

Now what does Bring It On and Oregon poppy fields have in common? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Well, actually the color red is how I connected the two at first, and I thought that quote would make a funny caption for Instagram. Hey – sometimes writing can be hard and it’s difficult to make those smooth transitions from silly 2000’s movies, to flower fields, to what I am wearing in a photo. But if you have been reading this far I would say I have done a pretty good job so far.

I styled my floral print B by Bobeau dress for the colorful occasion.  I thought the the print looked like poppies, so I made it my mission this summer to style this dress at this specific location. It was actually really difficult to track down this field of poppies. I knew of them, but didn’t have an exact destination. After driving for 2 hours through gorgeous Oregon farmlands, I finally came across them. Whether this scene reminds you of Bring It On, or even The Wizard of Oz, there is no denying that this landscape is fit for any movie or photo shoot. It was so ethereal watching the poppies dance in the wind.

I am so excited with how these photos turned out, despite the fact that they were taken in direct sunlight. I am always such a perfectionist, which can get me stressed out a lot of times. I need to learn how to go with the flow better when things go wrong during my shoots (which they ALWAYS do hahaha). But hey, at least I found the darn flower field and this trip wasn’t for nothing. Cheers to pretty flowers and long red hair!
