This breathtaking Mt Hood lavender field is a bee’s haven. There were so many busy bees buzzing around pollinating the flowers to create honey. The lavender field I visited has a small shop where they sell their essential oils, candles, honey, and more lavender products. The lavender honey was absolutely delicious! It’s crazy that they don’t add any additional lavender flavor to the honey, the bees just naturally instill the aromas and flavors when creating honey from the lavender pollen. Needless to say this Mount Hood lavender farm smelled amazing.
It was absolutely worth the drive to this Mt Hood lavender farm named Lavender Valley. It is a “u-pick” so I got to walk around with a scythe to cut my own bushel of lavender. There were open fields of lavender that looked like they stretched to the bottom of Mt Hood. The farm was not busy, and with a spectacular view of Mt Hood it beats out any other lavender farm in the PNW.
The Fruit Loop is farmland in the valley of Mt Hood that has local farms and co-ops producing all different fruits and veggies year-round. Peaches and nectarines are in season now, but they have everything and anything from cherries to pumpkins to apple orchards. It’s a really special place and a lot of locally sourced food in the greater Portland area comes from this region! I love visiting this area for it’s natural beauty as well as supporting the local farmers. I am SO lucky to live close to such a bountiful area of flowers and fruits.
Now on to the outfit details. I wore my favorite striped ‘Luau’ Splendid jumpsuit. It’s perfect for summer, but it would also be a really cute outfit for pre-fall/fall paired with the denim jacket. A woman actually complimented my look as I was carrying my bushel of Lavender. “You are dressed the part,” she told me. I felt like I was living in a painting. With my sun hat, straw bag filled with freshly cut lavender, my stripped jumpsuit and wind-tangled hair. On top of that the aromatic scents and the meditative hum of the bees. The entire time I was there I couldn’t help but think how perfect it would be to run a Mt Hood lavender farm. Actual life goals right there.
