It’s been a long time since I rock & rolled! In this post I’m sharing how to style a band T. There are some do’s and don’ts so make sure you pay close attention! Firstly, A band T shirt is one of the easiest things to style. You can wear it with jeans, a leather jacket, a high waisted skirt, shorts or some booties. Remember the store Hot Topic? Well I never shopped there as a teenager, but I recently discovered their amazing wall of band T’s – their selection is out of this world! That’s where I scored this colorful Led Zeppelin shirt. I styled my T with a pleated skirt and some block heel booties. I love the casual style that has come around the past few years because you can throw on your favorite T-shirt, some jeans and some sneakers and still be on trend. I’m not really a sneakers girl, but they definitely work with so many different outfits!
Secondly, please don’t be one of those people who styles a band shirt for the sake of being cool and trying to be stylish. This might be harsh, but if you’re wearing a Metallica shirt, you bet I will be asking what your top 3 favorite Metallica songs are It bothers me when people do that – it’s just unauthentic. If you really love a band then you should represent them, otherwise you’re just a poser in my eyes. If band T’s aren’t your thing, check out Nasty Gal’s collection of graphic T-shirts – they are having an 80% off sale too!
As for me, well I’m a classic rock junkie. Give me all of the Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Tom Petty and Jefferson Airplane shirts. I got my great taste in music from my mom who was born in 1961. I really wish I could go back in time, I’d give ANYTHING to see Led Zeppelin, my favorite band, perform live. Fingers crossed they do at least one more reunion tour… There’s something about classic rock that makes me feel so nostalgic. The music they made back then is incomparable. When I listen to my favorite rock songs I am transported decades back and I just imagine myself sitting in the sun during Woodstock watching history unravel.
In this photo shoot I was wandering around an antique store. The lights and fun trinkets made the perfect backdrop for this vintage-inspired shoot. Now tell me, do you listen to rock & roll? If so what are your favorite bands. Would you wear a band T shirt and if so, how would you style it?

January 30, 2018Great photos! As a thrifter, I come across band tees ALL the time! I don’t normally buy any because I do believe that if you wear something, it should represent you. As you said — don’t be a poser! So, I tend to pick up graphic tees that have words that resonates with me. Great styling here.

January 30, 2018For one, I don’t think I am cool enough to pull of trying to wear a band t-shirt with anything other than jeans. For 2, I am not sure if I am a fan enough to wear any band! It is a problem.

January 30, 2018Band tees are my favorite thing in the whole world! Such an easy way to dress down a pretty skirt and edge it up!

January 30, 2018For one, your photos are amazing! I also love old band t’s. They are comfy and really can look very stylish.

January 30, 2018I usually only wear my band tees around the house. I have never been brave enough to wear them out in public. This makes me want to try it a little more. I too grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, The Doors etc. If I had a choice of radio stations while driving it would be on Classic Rock for sure.

January 30, 2018My all-time favourite band is Queen!! I have a black one with their album cover, Queen II, on it. I style it with either my black pencil skirt, or with my white flared jeans.

January 31, 2018Totally loving this look! I think I’d look in some thrift stores, but those can be a little hit or miss — but I’ve found some great pieces before!

January 31, 2018I love a good band tee and you styled this one so well! I typically wear mine super casually or at home so I like the idea of wearing it with one of my pleated skirts!

January 31, 2018Band tees are SO my ish. I wear them literally all the time, but they’re typically more current artists rather than the classics. I should get a couple of classic ones too – I just like being a conversation-starter when someone has no clue who is on my shirt haha!

January 31, 2018Concert or band t-shirt is a classic look, but you are so right, if you don’t love the band, don’t wear the shirt. I’m a big 80s fan so I’d probably rock a Depeche Mode, Go Gos, Prince or Duran Duran shirt with pride.
tayloraube
February 1, 2018I’ve been SUPER into the 80’s lately so I’m all about Depeche Mode and Motley Crue!!

January 31, 2018I have always thought band tees made such a statement about a person. These looks you have are actually really cute.

January 31, 2018Love these photos and the pairing with that skirt! I’m the worst with putting bands to songs so I would not want you to catch me in a band tee! But you wouldn’t because I’m more likely to be in a Disney tee. I’d rock that quiz :).

Stephanie // A Sparkle Factor
February 6, 2018You look super cool! I totally agree on wearing a band tee only if you’re into the band… sooooo lame and embarrassing when you see someone wearing one and you’re like uhhhh you know you don’t listen to them lol! I actually love Led Zeppelin too. (Babe I’m Gonna Leave You is like one of my all time fave songs) But I don’t think I’m cool enough to wear a band tee haha
Kait Elizabeth
February 6, 2018I couldn’t agree more about NOT wearing a piece if you don’t know the band or tv show or book or whatever it’s representing! You look so badass. Hugs, Kait
