New York Fashion Week Part 1: Rent The Runway

I am so excited to share my first post from New York Fashion Week featuring my picks from the amazing clothing rental website Rent The Runway! I was in NYC for 8 days and I was going for 10 until I decided to switch my flight and come home early. Turns out walking, ubering and taking the train everywhere for 7 straight days turns you off for doing it another 3 when you actually have the time to do what you want to. Either way I got A LOT in during my fabulous bi-annual trip. New York is always such a treat and being back in a big city brings me so much joy. I walked, talked, laughed, and most importantly, ate my little heart out! Meeting and hanging out with my Style Collective sisters was a highlight of my trip. By the end of the trip I lost my voice and sounded like Fran the nanny! As soon as I got back to North Carolina I went to the county fair with Scott and was immediately recruited to join a bee keeping society, which I am actually highly considering. I know North Carolina doesnโ€™t have the buzz of New York, but I am sure glad to be back home with my honey ๐Ÿ™‚

This post highlights two of my outfits that I wore to a day full of shows. I was averaging about 3 shows per day, so you can imagine how much my feet hated me by the end of the day, hehe! Rent the Runway was so gracious to lend me 2 looks for New York Fashion Week. Of course I opted for a traditional Taylor girly-floral print; aka this fabulous melange of red, green and white lace by Erin Fetherston. I paired this lovely dress with a Loeffler Randall Rider bag, which I immediately fell in love with. The reds of my outfit played off each other really well and the setting of the midtown-Manhattan townhouses were the perfect backdrop for this look.

My second look was all about the summer-to-fall transition. This Elizabeth & James crop top with a Tibi moto jacket on top paired perfectly with a Malene Birger pleated skirt. I felt so cool and comfortable in this look. The color combination was perfection, who knew navy and burgundy looked so good together?! I know the majority of my style is girly and floral, but just you wait for fall and winter because my wardrobe completely transforms! I styled my crop top, clutch, skirt and jacket directly from Rent the Runway. I love the idea of renting an outfit for a big day or special celebration. Why buy a $500 dress or outfit when you can rent it for a quarter of the price? You get all of the style for none of the commitment! RTR is such an amazing concept and they have day looks such as the ones pictured below, or gala and ball looks such as Badgley Mischka dresses and Oscar de la Renta jewels. Either way, this resource needs to be on your radar. Stay tuned for my NYFW Part 2 post where I break down where I stayed, ate, shopped and what shows I saw!
