In this post I’m sharing the 5 best mascara brands. Some I have been using for months, the others are new to me. I like to swap out my mascara for different events and different looks. Read below to see what mascara will suit your needs. Also – one of my biggest tips with mascara is finding an applicator and formula you LOVE. From designer makeup to drug store brands – there are so many good options around. Hope you enjoy this post and find the perfect product to give you the lashes of your dreams!
I received all of these mascaras complimentary from the respective brands. All opinions are my own.
Chanel – Le Volume and Beaute De Cils
Together this Chanel mascara and primer make an iconic duo. These are my go-to mascaras and my most often used mascaras. I love how they fan my eyelashes out and give them full coverage. The applicator is simple and does a perfect job at separating the lashes. The formula is amazing – it has a smooth and creamy texture that doesn’t get clumped up. These will be two products I will be using for the rest of my life!
NARS – Climax
I love this mascara for multiple reasons 1) the packaging is gorgeous 2) the brand NARS can do no wrong in my eyes 3) this is the perfect every-day mascara. I love this product because it gives a really nice daily look. Nothing too crazy, but nothing too simple either. The formula is a little bit thinner than most, but it applies really nicely on the lashes to separate them all. If you’re looking for huge, dark lashes I wouldn’t suggest this product. This NARS Climax mascara is more of an elegant look. The applicator is nice and bushy so you will get full coverage on your lashes.
Covergirl – Flourish by Lash Blast Mascara and Primer
I love the accessibility of this product. I mean, you can shop Covergirl literally anywhere – and you can’t beat that when it comes to mascara. Say you’re on vacation and you forget your makeup bag, you can shop your favorite mascara at most stores like Target, Walgreens, Walmart, etc. This makes a wonderful daily mascara for those who want long, elegant lashes. The applicator brushes are rather small, but do a great job combing through the lashes to get full coverage. It also fans out the eyelashes nicely. I’m the type of person who likes to clump on mascara, so this paired with the primer gives a really nice, sultry look without looking like you’re going out to party all night long – although you could do that too!
Urban Decay -Perversion
I use this as my go-to when I don’t want to use my Chanel. I really like the applicator because it is large and bushy so it gives really great coverage. Just three layers and you are good to go! Full, long and dramatic eyelashes are the result. The formula is very creamy, like the Chanel, and a little goes a long way. I recommend this product if you’re looking for dramatic, thick eyelashes but don’t want to pay a high price point for designer mascara.
Givenchy – Phenonen’Eyes
This is a mascara essential for everyone! Tired of poking yourself in the eye with a giant applicator to get the bottom of your lashes? Or can’t get those little lashes on the corner of your eye without smudging your whole mascara look? This tool is the perfect solution. The applicator is a small, spiky ball that is perfect for those little spots and hard to reach places. It’s also a great way to make sure you have full coverage by going over the top of the eyelashes, which is hard to do with a normal applicator brush. Great coverage + creamy formula = amazing eyelashes!

August 28, 2018As far as I can tell, none of these brands are cruelty-free. Every one of these products uses animal testing to determine if products are safe for human use. If you don’t have a problem torturing defenseless animals so your lashes can look great, go for it. Otherwise there are alternative products available.

August 28, 2018Hello – Urban Decay is a cruelty-free brand that I have featured here. While I agree, I wish the industry and consumers as a whole would move to a cruelty-free mindset, you could have said so in a less chastising way. If you have any resources on brands that are cruelty-free I would love to look into it.

November 6, 2018I wanted to update my readers that Covergirl is now recognized as a Cruelty Free brand with a Leaping Bunny certification! I’m so glad that such a large cosmetic company, and accessible brand is moving in the right direction!

August 28, 2018L’Oreal Voluminous (their “regular” as well as Carbon Black), hands down the best! And affordable, I’ve tried ALL of the expensive ones, as well as drug store brands, over the course of time, and this is the one I keep coming back to. I use their primer for lower lashes (as I age, these seem to “short out” first!), and then put on the black mascara. It stays and stays, no flaking, no smudging (and I’m NOT using the waterproof, either!). I highly recommend this one!

August 29, 2018Mascara is one of the most common makeup items used by women. Applying mascara is an important step in eye makeup. Whether you prefer natural colors or the jet black one, choosing a mascara that complements your look is essential.

August 30, 2018As an Asian lady with medium length poker straight eyelashes that points downwards. I curl my lashes first then use my
go to mascara which is L”Oreal Volumnious. I have tried so many and found that this mascara is drier then most.
Most mascara are so wet that after applying it, my curled eyelashes goes straight. Many years ago, there was a make up company called Charles of the Ritz, they made the best mascara ever. The brush they had for their mascara was like a
threaded screw. So far, although the L’Oreal is good, I am still searching for that one mascara that is good for me.

August 30, 2018On my Instagram I had quite a few girls also loving the L’Oreal mascaras! I think once you find your favorite mascara it’s hard to ever buy a new one. It’s all trial and error to figure out what formula is best for you, since we all have different needs! Thanks for stopping by Margaret
