10 Ways To Embrace Spring

Welcome Spring! While the spring equinox was nearly a month ago it sure doesn’t feel like spring in most places. In fact, when I took these photos in North Carolina the next few weeks were bitterly cold. Now that I am located in Washington I feel like it’s winter part II. That hasn’t stopped me from thinking all things spring. And just because it doesn’t feel like spring, doesn’t mean it isn’t so let’s embrace is whether it’s 70 or 55 degrees! In this post I am sharing 10 tips to embrace spring to truly get you in the seasonal spirit. I hope they help make your spring brighter.

1. Plant a flower/tree or buy one to leave on your front step

There is nothing that will freshen up your life like some fresh blooms. Even if the grass and trees haven’t caught on that it’s spring, a little pop of color in your front yard or on your front doorstep will brighten up your day. After all, the world laughs in flowers!

2. closet refresh

Spring is the perfect time to pull out all of your old winter clothes and your spring/summer clothes at the same time while you swap them out. You can easily pull out all of your unused clothes and pile them up for donations. It feels so good to give back, while simultaneously cleaning out your home.

3. spring cleaning on social media

Delete the people who you never talk to on Facebook. Remember when Facebook was brand new and you had over 1000 friends? Adding people you met once after that one party. We added e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e when we were younger after being acquaintances of about 5 minutes. I have a new rule – if I haven’t met you in person, I won’t accept your friend request. Lighten up your friends list by clearing out the people you never communicate with anymore.

4. open your windows and refresh your entire house

Ahhh the power of fresh air. It’s incredible how opening your windows at the same time can refresh your house. It’s good to crack open your windows after a long winter – the spring air will feel so good and clear out winter’s dryness.

5. power clean your apartment

In spirit of spring cleaning, giving your apartment a heavy duty clean is something you should do every season. With the windows down and the cool spring air refreshing your apartment, power cleaning to some music will be so easy. And the best part about cleaning is that you feel so good afterwards. There’s nothing like coming home to a completely clean home.

6. get a humidifier to combat allergies

When the air you breathe is too dry, the mucus in your nose and sinuses won’t flow properly and your sinuses won’t drain as well as they should. Nobody likes being congested during the spring blooming time, so having a little humidifier or dehumidifier will help your sinuses adjust to the change in seasons. Experts agree that adding humidity to the air with a humidifier is generally good for sinus health.

7. get some floral essential oils that will help you relax

Rosehip, lavender, whatever it may be – drop it in a bath and reeeeelax 🙂 Aromatherapy is so great and the beautifully scented flower oils will make you feel at peace. I recently used Everyone Essential Oils (shop via Target) in my bath and it was such a therapeutic experience. Try some floral scents to get you in the mood for spring!

8. take a bath with a luscious bath bomb

Bath bombs are my jam, and I’m sure there are some fabulous ones being released by my favorite brand LUSH. They have the cutest seasonal shapes and scents. But I don’t discriminate against any bath bombs – there are so many wonderful brands that make your bath time a fantastical experience. From purple bath water, to therapeutic scents, to glitter and shimmer, bath bombs are just so much fun!

9. go on a nature walk

Get your body exercised and find a good walking path in your neighborhood or county. Bring a friend – be it your husband, your bestie, or your dog. Being outside and being active is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself. A little vitamin D, and a whole lot of walking and stretching can go a long way.

10. take photos of flowers and plants

Improve on your photography skills and bring your camera along on your nature walk, or head out to the local botanical garden that it starting to bloom. Taking pictures of flowers is really nice because they make the perfect subjects for a portrait. They are beautiful, they don’t move, and you can focus on so many different details. After you take your pictures you can even get some framed to add to your spring decor collection, so sweet!
