How to Style A Grey Outfit

It was a cold and rainy Sunday… but actually. I was so worried that my planned photo shoot would be ruined by the sprinkling rain. Scott and I toughed it out, went downtown at 12 noon and went to work! Despite the elements, these pictures came out amazing and the grey tone of the skies and background match my outfit perfectly.
For this shoot I paired my Down East Basics button down with some high waisted waxy jeans and a faux leather jacket. The entire time while shooting, my body wasn’t cold because my DownEast Basics top kept me incredibly warm. I love how versatile this piece is. Last weekend I wore it horseback riding and today I’m styling it in a photo shoot. I can also use it as “comfy clothes” while chilling at home, or even wear it to work. Needless to say, this piece is a favorite of mine this season!
Grey is a very easy color to style and it always looks incredibly chic. I love how many shades of grey there are (I’m trying SO hard not to make a 50 Shades reference…) and if you notice in my outfit, my top, boots and jacket are all a variety of grey colors. Styling extremely similar shades of colors is so easy because it really brings the look together. You don’t want to look like you blindly spun a color wheel while styling yourself, but you also don’t want to be drowned out in the same color. Ever wonder why grey is so perfect to style? That’s because it looks incredible with white and black – two of the easiest colors to style. With a pair of black pants and a white and black bag, these neutral colors tied the outfit together perfectly.
Tell me in the comments below, do you like to wear grey or does it dampen your style?
