Microblading and powder brows are the latest obsession in the beauty world, and rightfully so because the results are amazing. I am so excited to partner with the talented Autumn of Metamorphosis Microblading who did my beautiful new brows!
Metamorphosis Microblading: Book your appointment here!
Microblading and powder brows can turn someone with little-to-no eyebrow hair into looking like they have full, beautiful eyebrows. All it takes is a little time under the needle (yes, they are technically a temporary or “cosmetic tattoo”).
There are two rounds of tattooing and about 1-2 months of healing. Microblading and powder brows are two different treatments for different needs. I got powder done because I have a lot of hair growth. Since my hair is blonde I needed color shaded behind them to make them look filled in. I will go over the differences more later in this post.

The reason I wanted to get microblading done was because my eyebrows are naturally blonde. I used to have to guess what my eyebrow shape was and free-hand to draw them in. I always felt like my eyebrows looked uneven and never matched one another. I knew that microblading and powder brows would easily help me have defined eyebrows without having to fill them in every day. My before and after from Metamorphosis Microblading is insane! I wish I had done powder brows earlier because I absolutely love how they turned out. I can wake up and start my day without having to put on any makeup! Since I travel and go camping a lot, that is a really nice luxury to have.

Microblading vs Powder Brows: What is the Difference?
Microblading uses a hand tool to create realistic looking hair strokes in the browline. They are precise cuts into the skin that look just like the shape of an eyebrow hair. Powdered brows help achieve more of a powdered or ombre look instead of individual hair strokes. Powdered brows have a soft makeup look, just like if you were to fill in your eyebrows with a pencil and a little eye shadow. Since I already had full eyebrows with lots of hair growth Autumn of Metamorphosis Microblading decided that powder would be the best option for me.
How Often Do You Get Them Done?
Both treatments last a very long time, but it depends person to person. Older people whose skin does not rapidly regenerate will have longer lasting eyebrows. Across the board both treatments will last up to three years. Make sure you take extra good care of your brows during the healing process to ensure they look amazing for as long as possible!
Does It Hurt?
In my HONEST opinion, the procedure did hurt a little. That being said, I have a very low pain tolerance. The cosmetic artist will apply a numbing cream to help ease the pain before the procedure. There were times when I was pinching myself to distract my body from the pain, but honestly it wasn’t that bad. It is 100% manageable and 100000% worth it. Keep in mind, this is a temporary tattoo so there are needles involved. Unlike a normal tattoo the ink does not penetrate into deep layers of the skin, which is why they fade after 3 years. Like I said, I’m a bit of a baby when it comes to pain so if I can do it, you can definitely do it too!

How Much Does It Cost?
Pricing depends on where you live and how many artists are in your area. My treatment totaled $400, which included the follow-up appointment. Autumn is so kind to offer my followers $100 off their treatment, making it $300 until March 2020! If you live in the Portland, Oregon or Vancouver, Washington area make sure to schedule something with her ASAP!
What Is The Healing Process Like?
The healing process is VERY important so make sure you listen to your artist and follow the directions they give you. The healing process is sort of an emotional roller coaster because you will see flaking, patchiness and sometimes question if your brows will look good when it’s all over. Patience is key. It takes time for the ink to settle into your skin. I promise after 42 days your brows will look stunning!
Before Initial Appointment: My brows look non-existent!
Day 1: I got my brows powdered at Metamorphosis Microblading. They look very thick and full.
Day 2-4: My brows are starting to heal, they look very dark.
Day 5-7: My brows started to scab off. This part of the healing process will look like your brows are falling off patch by patch. Do not pick at the scabs, let them naturally fall off.
Day 8-10: My scabs have fallen off and my brows look very light. You may think that your brows have disappeared, but again this is part of the healing process. The ink is under a few layers of skin so as your brows heal the color will come back.
Day 14-28: The color in my brows is starting to come back. Your brows will still be a little patchy and uneven, but you are finally starting to see results!
Touch up: Touch ups are done about 30 days after your first treatment. The healing process is very similar to the original appointment, but much more mild. After two weeks my brows look amazing!! I didn’t get as severe flaking or patchiness on the second round.
Day 42: After your touch up and repeating the healing process your brows will be fully healed and looking AMAZING! In the photo below I am only wearing a clear brow gel. That’s how gorgeous they look without makeup! ?
