Golden Hour: Portland Acupuncture

Ever since I moved to the Pacific Northwest I have been practicing many different forms of wellness and self-care. I have been doing things like drinking more water, going on hikes and nature walks, practicing positive affirmations, and I even tried acupuncture and cupping. When I have a stomach ache I reach for my mint oil instead of a bottle of pills. I have been enjoying the holistic approach to health, and I love discovering ways to both enhance life and recover from illness with the help of natural remedies.
I received a chair acupuncture treatment complimentary of Golden Hour in Portland. I heard wonderful things about the location and the practice of acupuncture, and I wanted to share my wellness experience with you all!
The ambiance of Golden Hour was very calming, I felt instantly relaxed as soon as I walked inside. The interior design was impressive, with oriental statues and ancient apothecary bottles in the fine details. My massage felt amazing, and it complimented the acupuncture treatment really well. The acupuncture didn’t hurt at all, but at times there was a pinching feeling. I also received ear seeds on both ears, placed on the shen men point. This is done to stimulate the acupressure point, which promotes stress relief.
After my treatment I felt this overwhelming sense of relaxation. It’s like all of my daily stressers didn’t seem to bother me any more. I would definitely get this service again and recommend it for anyone who has stress in their life, travels a lot for work, has an ailment they are trying to relieve, or just wants a general sense of wellness.
The most important thing to remember is that acupuncture is meant for balance–to keep your Qi in check. You want to keep the energy within yourself constantly flowing to avoid stagnation. Stagnation can manifest itself in colds, irritability and confusion. The practice of acupuncture and Chinese medicine is also rooted in nature and focusing our health practices on seasonal changes. Since acupuncture helps increase white blood cells this helps improve immunity during the seasons people tend to get sick. “Stress, lack of sleep and other common conditions also contribute to a weakened immune system. Acupuncture can regulate immune function and treat the underlying cause of the disease by reducing symptoms, speeding up the healing of infection and normalizing the body’s immune response. It works by stimulating specific portions of the autonomic nervous system through selected acupoints, which in turn causes responses in the immune system.” (Acupuncture Massage College)
Golden Hour emphasizes acupuncture for health and wellness. The Signature Chair Treatment is focused on de-stress. Stress can really mess up our daily routines and throw our lives into chaos. The treatment is meant as daily tune-up and uses acupuncture points that are targeted at stress relief and calming the mind.
Thank you to Golden Hour for having me and helping me write this post!
