After showing my friend some pictures of me in my latest shoot, she told me I look like Betty Drapper. I just started watching Mad Men so I really like that compliment (I’m only on season three, so no spoilers please). The costumes in that show are amazing and the 60′s style midi skirts and blouses are adorable. It’s no wonder designers always try to reinvent those vintage styles. I can’t really explain it, but I see my style becoming a little bit more southern the more time I spend in North Carolina. Perhaps I am embracing the heatwave-appropriate garb and bright pops of colors commonly seen in southern fashion. Or maybe I’ve always wanted an excuse to wear knotted up shirts, like something Daisy Duke would wear, every day of the week. When paired with a modest skirt I actually quite like the Southern charm of of this outfit. To me, this look says “I was a debutante girl until I realized that crossover sandals and crop tops were way more comfortable than parading around in corsets and 5-inch heels all day.”
