Cross Country Road Trip 2018: National Parks & Destinations

Welcome to my blog post about my cross country road trip to the United State’s National Parks. My husband, dog and I traveled from North Carolina and made it to our destination in Washington in April. I highly recommend hitting these parks up in late April because there was barely anyone there! We traveled through so many places I never even thought I would visit. Cross country road trips are on everyone’s bucket list and I’m so glad we had this opportunity to see America’s most stunning sights. Here is the full list of the places we hit up along the way: Georgia, New Orleans (LA), San Antonio (TX), Caverns of Senora (TX), Carlsbad Caverns (NM), White Sands (NM), Antelope Canyon (AZ), Lake Powell (UT), Monument Valley (UT/AZ), Zion National Park (UT) and Mesa Verde (CO). I hope you enjoy our photos from this trip. Scott and I went all out and bought a new Sigma wide angle lens for our landscape photography. Taking it on this cross country road trip was so perfect!

Christmas at the Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore Estate is a mega-mansion, and the United State’s largest private residence. Does the name Vernderbilt ring a bell? Well George Vanderbilt, and his wife Edith, were the masterminds behind this iconic piece of American architecture. Known for its opulent design and incredible landscaping, the Estate later developed into a winery and has multiple inns on its property. It is now a modern vacationland to visit and live like a Venderbilt.

There are 250 rooms in this French Chateux style abode. Modernly, this house is known for it’s beautiful Christmas displays and its extensive gardens. These gardens and decorations will surely get you in the Christmas spirit! I was so impressed by the details and the abundance of it all. We drank some rich, hot chocolate that kept us warm as we walked around the festive grounds. The visit easily took an entire day and we had so much fun exploring the estate, doing a wine tasting, and eating dinner at their Bistro restaurant. Here is a break down of all the fun things we did while visiting the Biltmore Estate:

Complete and utter lavishness is what one can expect from this historic hotel on the famous 5th Avenue, which is just a stone’s throw away from Bergdorf Goodman. The Pierre has been open since the 1930’s, and while its main function is a hotel it is also a …
