Navy Blouse and Scalloped Skirt

Navy Blouse Scalloped Skirt

Hello loves! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend! I took Friday off of work and had a fun 4 days in Georgia with some family friends. It felt like a mini vacation and I had a blast. While in Georgia I did some quintessential “American” things such as shooting guns, playing with horses, and watching football – WAY too much football!

I love southern Thanksgiving because the sides are so delicious. I was telling my friends that the difference between New England Thanksgiving and Southern Thanksgiving is the fact that in NE the turkey isn’t fried, the ratio of the broccoli casserole is more in favor to the broccoli than cheese, the green beans don’t have bacon, and the squash isn’t sweet potatoes and doesn’t have marshmallows or brown sugar encrusted on top.Β It may be healthier up north, but man, I think everyone needs to try a Southern Thanksgiving at least once in their life.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I’m very thankful for Scott and his constant willingness to take my pictures for my blog. I think he really does an amazing job and together we can come up with something creative. Scott is getting deployed at the end of December so I am dealing with those emotions. For many reasons I am going to miss him, but the most vain one is that I won’t have my partner in crime to help me with my blog photos. I guess I will just have to beg my friends to take my pictures. I will be making a more formal deployment post in the coming weeks, but I just wanted to share that again with my readers because it’s slowly creeping around the corner. So be thankful for every second you get to spend with your loved ones! And maybe even give them a big hug after reading this πŸ™‚

On to the outfit – I am wearing two pieces that I found at Nasty Gal. The navy bell-sleeve blouse is on sale for $40, and the scalloped skirt is also $40. My Sole Society booties are so perfect because they are so versatile. You can wear them with bear legs, skinny jeans, tights, longer pants, whatever you want and you will look amazing! Does anyone else ever go into a store and buy a look that the mannequin is wearing? When I saw this blouse styled with the skirt on NG, I had to have both. And boom, here they are recreated on me!

Tell me in the comments below, what did you do for Thanksgiving?

Such a pretty top! Love the neckline! It’s so unique with the rufffles and the tie – it’s like 4 trends in one, how cool?!

Taylor, I swear, you always have the best finds! I LOVE that blouse – it is stunning and the little details on it are seriously everything. I am loving the velvet ties! It looks perfect with the scalloped skirt (which is such a fun hemline. I totally know what you mean with a Southern Thanksgiving! Being a Texan in California, it’s def something I miss at times. Blog boyfriends are seriously the best. I’ll be keeping you both in my thoughts next month – time is so precious. If you ever need a blogger friend, shoot me an e-mail at any time & any true friend would be happy to shoot you! You can always bake them something good for further convincing (then share the recipe on the blog!- in fact, a fun post idea is “how to get photos for your blog that isn’t your boyfriend!”) πŸ˜‰ Have a great week girl, and as always keep on killing it, babe! xx Shannon

That’s such a great idea – food incentive! I like where your head is at. Thankfully I have a bunch of friends who are interested in photography and would be more than happy to help me out. I’ll just have to rotate them every weekend so they don’t get sick of me, haha! Thanks so much for your kind words! πŸ™‚

You look so stunning Taylor! The top and the skirt are gorgeous and for such great prices! I love both pieces and they’re perfect together. Scott did an amazing job with these photos. If I lived closer, I would definitely help you out because I know what a challenge it can be. My brother is a Command Master Chief in the Navy and he was deployed on Thanksgiving which really sucked and on top of that as soon as he got to the ship, he had to have surgery due to stomach issues. We’re all just praying for him now and I hope they send him back home. Ugh! Lots of luck to Scott! Xoxo

It’s always so hard to be apart during the holidays! I hope your brother heals fast, it’s so scary to hear that a loved one is sick and you can’t do anything about it. Prayers for your family and thank him for his service! <3

  11. November 28, 2016 / 7:40 PM

Adore this look…the scalloped skirt is just perfect and the details on that top are pretty amazing ???????? Good luck w the deployment…I can’t say I’ve been in your shoes…but I’ve been a bit on the other end. I was a Redskins cheerleader in my 20s and we did a lot of overseas USO tours for the troops. More than once, grown servicemen would look at me or a teammate and start crying (this was back right after 9/11) and say they were looking at us and picturing “home”. It was truly one of the most humbling and a highlight experience of my life. So thank you to your hubby and thank YOU for your sacrifice!!!!

You’re so sweet Tiffani! I don’t think people realize how the military or deployment works until they have to either live it every day, have a family member who’s in, or do something like you did where you volunteered to help troops. Thanks so much for your kind words, I always appreciate them πŸ™‚
