Tables were laden for high tea and there was even a small CC-decorated steam train, complete with crystal decanters for guests - it was a grand feast and the most rich and apt teaser for what was to come: the clothes.

Karl Lagerfeld took inspiration from India for Chanel’s Paris-Bombay (Pre-Fall) 2012 collection, which he unveiled at the Grand Palais. It had undergone quite the Maharaja transformation. Paris and Bombay blended beautifully in pearl-swagged tweeds, in a raw silk tunic over boots, in sheer paisleys, or side-draped asymmetry in ivory silk. -Via
